Balanced Scorecards: Towards Broader and Better Measures of School Success

Rethinking Assessment – Research Paper Balanced Scorecard

Harrison College has worked with Rethinking Assessment and the Edge Foundation on discussion paper to explore the idea of a Balanced Scorecard for schools and colleges, building on the work being undertaken by Rethinking Assessment to develop digital learner profiles which present a more expansive and richer picture of student success and achievement. The aim was to consider what a ‘Balanced Scorecard’ could look like, and how it could be used in practice, moving beyond the narrow perspective provided by current accountability metrics to tell the whole story of a school / college, and provide broader information that shows its full impact on its pupils and community. In a way that values a wider range of success measures and allows schools / colleges to highlight important areas of strength, relevant to their particular context.
