Work at Harrison College

We are always looking for enthusiastic, outgoing and committed people to join our team.

Are you looking for a position in a college that is as committed to the continued development and support of its teaching staff as it is to its students?

Here at Harrison College, we are committed to developing all staff within their roles and creating opportunities for further career progression.

As a specialist Post 16 education provision, Harrison College is looking to recruit unique and talented people to join our small, dedicated and committed team of professionals, to help with the growth and expansion of our provision. Gemma Peebles (Principal and CEO) set up the college with one focus in mind; to ensure the students can achieve their potential and enter into employment and life fulfilling adult lives. To enable us to do this, we are building a team who do not place limits or barriers on the young students and who can really make a difference by supporting and guiding them to face their challenges and to overcome them.

Harrison College believes in ‘Your future, your choice’, and we have a simple mission and clear values underpinning our working practices and culture. Even though our focus is clear and simple, the work we do is far from it. The students we encounter are often complex and require a specific approach which has often not been applied before. You will need to be open, honest, reflective and be able to adapt some of the educational strategies in your current practice so as not to limit your potential for success within this environment.

Teamwork, respecting each other and being solution focussed with an empathetic, compassionate and nurturing disposition is crucial to be successful within the Harrison College team. Being able to take the initiative, have confidence in your actions whilst being open and reflective towards differing opinions and new ways of working, needs to be within your comfort zone. Trusting those around you and being able to gain the trust of others and build positive and strong relationships with students, families and external agencies is a key quality we are looking for.

In a recent staff survey 100% of staff said that they are proud to be a member of #TeamHC, that leaders use professional development to encourage, challenge and support staff development and that the climate allows teaching staff to take risks and innovate in ways that are right for student. Also, 100% of staff agreed that the college has a culture that encourages calm and orderly conduct and is aspirational for all students.
